Elayna has more than 20 years of experience as a piano teacher. Elayna holds a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education with High Honors from Northeastern Illinois University. She has been teaching at Lewis University since 1999.

A Proven Systematic Successful Approach

Elayna's method of piano instruction is to stress a very positive, nurturing and consistent approach to playing the piano. Students are taught with respect, affirmation and encouragement. Piano lessons are designed with an emphasis in teaching the fundamental techniques through private weekly instruction.

Why Practice is So Important

In order to achieve optimum success, all students are expected to practice piano daily. A favorable outcome can be achieved when a student has the desire to play better and the discipline to practice.  To make each home practice session more effective, each lesson may be recorded. Improvement is directly related to the amount of careful practice. In addition to daily practice, students have the opportunity to perform in public during recitals in May and December. This is not mandatory, but is highly encouraged so students can gain experience playing in front of a live audience.
